Balveen is a key member of the BBW Lawyers commercial team. Her practice focuses on both front and back end commercial issues and transactions along with debt recovery, insolvency and aged care, disability and retirement villages. 

Prior to her admission, Balveen worked as part of an in-house compliance/legal team for a prominent Australian hire company for six years.

Balveen’s litigation experience has evolved from appearing in, and successfully representing her clients’ interests, in all NSW Courts, the Federal Circuit Court and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

  • acting for financial services company who sought recovery of large outstanding debt from multiple organisations.
  • acting for liquidator in $16 million voidable transaction claim and successfully negotiating commercial resolution to claim.
  • acting for large institutional property client in $80 million dispute, including initially obtaining urgent freezing orders.
  • acting for large financial services client in recovery of $1.4 million from 7 separate entities.
  • undertaking retirement villages contract roll-overs for various national retirement village operators.
  • undertaking external Aged Care Compliance Investigations and Reporting for a number of national aged care providers in response to incidents and/or potential non-compliance with the aged care standards.
  • drafting privacy policies and statements and providing advice to a client in compliance with Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
  • advising on intellectual property including copyright, patents, brand protection and trademarks; including breaches of intellectual property rights.
  • advising on building and construction matters including development, contracts, compliance and disputes.
  • advising on workplace and employment related issues including modern awards claims under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
  • advising business advisors, trustees, liquidators, administrators and receivers in relation to personal and corporate insolvency matters.
  • assisting clients and procurement compliance departments with internal and external contracts and bids, supplier agreements including tailored and tired supply agreements.
  • President of the NSW Division of the Australian Institute of Credit Management (AICM) between the period 2017 to 2021.
  • obtained Certified Credit Executive status in 2018 through the AICM.
  • recipient of AICM’s national award for Young Credit Professional of the Year in 2013 in recognition of her ongoing contributions to the industry.
