Luis Ormazabal

Luis is a specialist in commercial litigation and has experience in insolvency and commercial debt recoveries.

Since being admitted in 2010, Luis has acted in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters in the Federal, Supreme, District and Local Courts and Court of Appeal, representing clients in the capacity of plaintiff and defendant. Luis also provides general commercial advice and prepares commercial documentation for a variety of clients.

• Preferred legal services representatives for an ASX Top 10 listed company’s large volume of debt recovery and insolvency litigation matters.
• Acted for an ASX listed company and successfully set aside a default judgment order, garnishee order, and applying for summary dismissal of the proceedings, with an order as to costs.
• Acting for a Liquidator in a $16 million dollar voidable transactions claim, and successfully negotiating a commercial resolution to the claim.
• Acting for a creditor and successfully opposing a Liquidator’s claim for a multi-million dollar unfair preference claim.
• Acting for large institutional property client in recovery of $1.2 million, including initially obtaining urgent freezing orders in the Supreme Court of NSW.
• Acting for financial services client in recovery of $1.4 million against 7 separate entities.
